March is National Craft Month. Did you know over 56% of U.S. households have a person who is passionate about crafting, according to the Craft and Hobby Association (CHA)? And that the top five craft segments are: woodworking, food crafting, scrapbooking, jewelry making and floral decorating?
In honor of National Craft Month, why not try some of these tips provided by CHA to make your craft more enjoyable?
Crafting is a great way to relax and have fun. No matter what craft activity you prefer, the emotional benefits of crafting are immense. Below are some tips so that your crafting experience will be even more enjoyable:
• Keep craft materials organized – Place in plastic
containers, closet organizers, baskets, whatever works for you.
• Craft in a clear area – Keep your workspace free of
clutter. It will allow you to focus on the craft project at hand.
• The more the merrier – Craft with a friend or your family. It allows for quality time together along with some laughs.
• Craft to the beat – Play some of your favorite music while you craft. Sing along and enjoy yourself.
• Take a break – Be sure to get up and stretch when crafting for long periods of time.
• Envision the finished project – Think of how beautiful the pillow will look on your bed; how nice the candle will smell when it is lit; how your daughter will love the scrapbook page that features her dance recital. It’s a great motivator.
• Enjoy yourself – Crafting is fun! It is a way to express your individuality and creativity. If a project isn’t coming out the way you wanted, don’t get discouraged. Practice makes perfect!
