In honor of St. Patrick’s Day I created this Lucky to Call You Friend Card. I started with the Stamp of the Month, Winged Masterpiece. The sentiment in this set was perfect for a St. Patrick’s Day card. Next, I knew I wanted to do a blend of greens and gold with my card.
I first found this beautiful patterned paper in Fern from the current March-April Mix-in Paper Collection. I decided to pair Avocado and New England Ivy with the Fern.
The shamrock tag is cut from our Cricut Art Philosophy Collection (I glued the cutout shamrock to the inside of the card–a nice way to tie it all together!) Then I wet embossed the sentiment on the tag using our VersaMark Ink Pad and Gold Embossing Powder. For additional gold accents, I tied a bow with our now retired White & Gold Skinny Ribbon. Finally, I added in a strip of our Gold Shimmer Trim. The use of these 3 gold elements adds a nice cluster of the color to the card.
You might also notice the distressed look to the embossed Fern Cardstock behind the shamrock tag. I sanded it just like I discussed in my post from last week. Sanding an embossed image is a fun technique since it distresses the raised edges but leaves the debossed sections in their original state.
I don’t think you’d normally look at this month’s Stamp of the Month and think let’s make a St. Patrick’s Day card with it. But it works, right? And who wouldn’t love receiving a lucky to call you friend card?
