If you haven’t seen Martha Stewart’s Glow-in-the-Dark Glitter–it’s so COOL!
I picked up some a few weeks back with the idea of having my kids help me decorate those craft pumpkins rather than carving a pumpkin–thought it would be less messy (yeah, right…two 3-year-olds and glitter! I’m totally off my rocker!)
But that does lead me to a tip for you. Swiffer dry sweeping cloths are SUPER amazing for cleaning up glitter on your table. I had never thought of using them before yesterday’s glitter mess with the kids. In the past, I’d just have small traces of glitter remaining all over my work area for weeks. But that was okay because who doesn’t love glitter!
To create these festive pumpkins, I first painted 2 coats of acrylic paint over them (wanted their color to look more vibrant). Then I asked each kiddo what type of eyes they wanted, what type of nose and finally what type of mouth. (Obviously we are at the following stage because the only difference was the nose!). I then went and drew on the faces with Liquid Glass to get some additional dimension and then let the kids sprinkle the glitter all over the face (and boy did it go all over! LOL)
This picture doesn’t show the truly awesome glow factor, but it totally works. In fact, just carrying the jar of glitter into the dark is cool…the eeery green glow. Super duper fun!
Cool, I luvs me some MS glitter! Must get some of the glow in the dark stuff.
I posted photos and links to two of your projects on my blog today. Thanks for participating in Blogtoberfest!
