A Wicked Witch Hat

A couple more Halloween “treats” for you before the spooky holiday has passed.  Here is my Witches Hat I whipped up.

Supplies used:
  • Cardboard cone from Michaels
  • 1386 Black 12″ x 12″ Cardstock
  • Black spray paint (or acrylic–whatever you have on hand)
  • X7129B Hooligans Level 2 Paper Packet
  • Z679 Liquid Glass
  • Z1313 Stardust Glitz Glitter Gel
  • Z2105 Black Exclusive Inks Stamp Pad
  • Coluzzle Mat, Swivel Knife and Circle Template
  • Plastic spider & bat rings

STEP 1:

First paint your chipboard cone and cut out a circle from Black CS using the largest circle template.  Then adhere base to cone using Liquid Glass.

STEP 2:

Using patterned paper of choice, cut all circle templates on the Coluzzle Circle Template.

STEP 3:

If you’ve used Coluzzle Templates before, you know it has locations that need to be cut with your scissors once you’ve followed the template with your swivel knife.  With the circle template, there are 2 locations on each circle that need to be snipped.  You’ll want to consistently snip ONLY 1 of the areas on all the circles.  Then with the remaining spot, you’ll want to snip it like I have pictured.  You’ll angle from the end of one circle to the beginning of the circle above it.  This ensures that it remains a constant loop/chain. (note: depending on how large the top of your cone is, you may need to hand cut the middle–and final–circle more if it remains too large).

STEP 4:

Decorate patterned paper as desired (I sponged mine with Black Ink and also added Stardust Glitz Glitter Gel to each polka dot).  Then using Liquid Glass adhere the middle circle to the top of your cone.  Let paper cascade down.  Secure final circles around the hat base with Liquid Glass (note: you’ll want the angled cuts to be in the back of your hat as pictured).  Finally add any additional embellishments you’d like (I snipped off the ring portion of a couple of spider and bat rings and attached with Liquid Glass).

Be sure to check back in tomorrow as I share my final Halloween treat with you this year!
