Happy Halloween! I hope you’ve had a spooktacular day. Ours was filled with a school costume parade, followed by a class potluck and then of course trick or treating around the neighborhood.
Over the weekend I put together a little treat for my kids to pass out to their friends today at school. I used CTMH’s now retired Xoxo Stamp Set. I filled each bag with a few Hershey Kisses and then a few rubber bugs from the Dollar Tree’s Halloween collection.
Even though I prepared for these weeks ago, I was super bummed to find out there were no Halloween Kisses–they were already out of them. So no fun, cobweb wrapped Kisses for this treat. They were already into the Fall/Thanksgiving solid colored ones. I can’t get over how quickly the holiday merchandise flies through the stores!
I changed the Hugs & Kisses sentiment to Bugs & Kisses using my Journaling Pen to close up the “H” giving the illusion it’s a “B”; it’s not perfect, but it does the trick!
The irony of working on getting these all prepared is that we forgot them at home when we left for school this morning. Sigh. To be fair, we were preoccupied with remembering costumes as well as the snacks for the party. Luckily my kids weren’t too disappointed; they both said they’d like to bring them in tomorrow. A fun after-Halloween treat, I guess!
This year, I tried out 2 new recipes to really capture the spirit of Halloween. First up, was some Blood & Guts. I found the recipe HERE. Really simple and everyone agreed it tasted good, too.
Next up were some Jello worms my son helped me make. At the party it was extremely fun watching one of the moms offer each kid some worms and having 99% of them get squeamish and say no. But there were a couple of brave souls who tried this life-like treat and enjoy them. You can find the directions HERE.
Now it’s time to start planning for Thanksgiving and very soon after that, Christmas! Oh, how time flies!
