Scrapbooking the Start of School

Start School Poem

Today was the day to go to school and find out who your teacher will be for the year.  There was also the opportunity to visit your classroom and meet your teacher before school officially begins tomorrow.  I had to share this darling poem my son’s teacher gave each of her students–it is so sweet!

So to set the stage properly, we walk into the classroom and she has each child’s “station” set up with their name, a letter about her along with a sealed envelope.  Every child had a different colored envelope, but they were all the same.  The deal was that they were to take the envelope home with them and then open it & read it once they were there.

Inside was a little note along with a Ziploc bag of confetti stars.  Here is what the note says:

The night before school is exciting and fun.

There are always so many things to be done.

Your clothes are ready, your backpack is, too.

Your classroom is full of fun things you will do.

Lots of questions go through your mind,

All types of thoughts of every kind.

But sometimes we all get the jitters down deep

And that makes it hard to fall fast asleep.

So I’ve made this magic confetti for you,

Full of promises for the whole year through.

On Tuesday night when you lay down your head,

Just sprinkle some under your pillow in bed.

The confetti will help you sleep through the night

And wake up in the morning fresh and bright.

I’ll sprinkle the confetti under my pillow, too

Because I am so super excited to see you!

Sweet dreams Second Grader!

Love,

Ms. Sander

So adorable, right?!?  Definitely a memory to scrapbook.  My son smiled so big and said, “I knew my teacher was nice.”  Here’s to another great year of school!
