Welcome Home January CTMH Special

Did you know that January is National Papercrafting Month?

Every January, we at Close To My Heart celebrate National Papercrafting Month as a way of acknowledging the pure joy of playing with paper! We scrapbook with it, we make cards with it, we decorate with it—in short, we craft with it!

This year, we’re celebrating the joys of paper-crafted home décor with the beautiful Welcome Home Wreath Kit. This kit comes with pre-cut pieces you can simply pop out and attach to the sturdy chipboard wreath base (it’s like 2 layers of chipboard securely adhered together!), making a welcoming décor piece for your home.

This stamp set is perfect for creating a Confetti Party Cracker and today I’m going to walk you through the process.

Confetti Party Cracker Supplies

Supplies to gather:

Toilet Paper Rolls
Tissue Paper
Confetti
Ribbon
Scissors
Additional supplies for decoration

STEP 1:

Acting as if you are going to cut a toilet paper roll in half, cut almost entirely across–just leave a small amount uncut. This will assist with splitting open your cracker when you’re ready once it’s all decorated.

Halloween Candy Kabob

Monstrous Halloween Candy Kabob

Today’s project is a fun one–a Halloween Candy Kabob I created using small sour cream containers. If you’d like to create your own, you only need a few simple items.

patterned paper
bamboo skewers
adhesive
hole punch
stamps, embellishments and ribbon of choice

First thing you’ll do is create 3 sour cream containers in the size of your choosing. If you’ve never made a sour cream container before, they are super easy! Here is a video I made a few years back on how to make one to help get you started.

Before you seal up the ends of your sour cream containers, you’ll want to punch a hole through the center of each (to allow you to easily slide the skewer through them.) Once you seal one end, be sure to fill it up with candy before sealing the other side.
