During difficult times, it can be encouraging to have visual reminders of the things you love. Vision boards make a great DIY project for focusing your attention on the things that matter most. As you list out ideas and look through photos, you are sure to be cheered by great memories and by dreams that make your heart soar. Here are a few different ideas to help you envision what shape your vision board could take.

Simple Techniques to Try Today!
Last week, I shared information about Close To My Heart’s April Special–Cardstock Carnival. Today, I wanted to share this 15-minute video that showcases the artwork shown above and walks you through creating the cheerful yellow card. You’ll learn some quick & easy techniques that I know you’ll want to try out on your own projects.
Virtual Scrapbooking Retreat!
Okay, exciting news for you today. If the news of Close To My Heart hosting an all-day event for National Scrapbooking Day was exciting for you, you’re going to be ecstatic for this next piece of news. CTMH is going to host a 2-day (yep, 2 days!) virtual scrapbooking retreat where you’ll complete an entire album on May 15 & 16 all as part of their celebration of National Scrapbooking Month!
Social Distancing Make It Monday 4th Edition
This week’s Make It Monday features another FREE card pattern. This CityScapes Pattern is from our now retired Wishes Card Pattern Book. This is a great card design with the stacked look to it, but also because you can create 4 cards from just 1 sheet of 12″ x 12″ piece of cardstock!
National Scrapbooking Day with Close To My Heart
Two days ago I shared Close To My Heart’s announcement that they were going to host an all-day FREE Virtual Craft Day to celebrate National Scrapbooking Day. Since 1994, National Scrapbooking Day has always been the first Saturday in May–making it May 2nd this year. For many, going to a traditional all-day crop or other crafting event is out of the question. From basic social distancing to Shelter-in-Place Orders this just isn’t possible.
DIY Birdseed Easter Eggs
Today’s project is going to be a little different from our usual papercrafting ones. It’s a fun and fairly easy project to do in preparation for Easter. It’s a perfect project for both kids and adults. And the best part is that it’ll bring joy to both you and to the birds that find the eggs!
Social Distancing Make It Monday 3rd Edition
This week’s Make It Monday features another FREE card pattern! This “Pretty Simple” Pattern is from our now retired Originals Card Program. It’s a great pattern that, like it’s name says, is pretty simple! But even though it is simple, it doesn’t mean you can’t dress it up a bit.
Create Handmade Happiness This Weekend!
This weekend I challenge you to create some handmade happiness! (I’ve been creating cards using Close To My Heart’s *NEW* Let’s Stay Home Stamp Set.) Then Monday morning mail what you’ve created to those you haven’t been able to see in person due to social distancing. The joy you feel when you find a handmade card in the mail can’t be beat. Really.
DIY Easter Banner
Today I want to share with you a couple of adorable (and easy!) Wooden Easter Banners that are available from Close To My Heart. There’s still time to order your own DIY Banner Kit and put it together by yourself or if you have kids, have them join in on the fun! They are so quick to put together that you’ll have it ready in time for Easter.
Telling the Story of Life Right Now
Life can change quickly, as evidenced by the events of the last couple of weeks! Moments like this, where routines are disrupted and the pace of life changes, tend to bring life into greater focus and help us see the things that are truly important.
Social Distancing Make It Monday 2nd Edition
Today I have a versatile scrapbook pattern to share with you! This particular design would make a great introductory layout for your “Let’s Stay Home” story.
Thinking of You Card
Remember this stack of happy mail I shared earlier this week? Well, it’s officially on it’s way to oodles of my favorite people. I hope when they find it in their mailbox, it brings a smile to their face.
DIY Easter Projects for You & Your Kids!
Today’s inspiration is all about preparing for Easter. This morning my daughter asked me if we would be doing anything for Easter since we didn’t really do much for St. Patrick’s Day. (I generally try to decorate our home, even if it’s only a tiny amount, as well as to do or make something a little extra special for that particular holiday to make it more memorable.) Well, with all that is going on around the world with COVID-19, I admit our St. Patrick’s Day didn’t quite live up to past ones.
Send Happy Mail During Social Distancing
Last week I shared the idea of getting a jump start on your holiday cards if you like to send out handmade ones. Well, if it’s a little too early for you to start thinking about that task, why not just send out a bunch of happy mail to all those people you care about but can’t physically see right now because of our new norm of social distancing.
Happy World Storytelling Day!
Happy World Storytelling Day! Given all that is happening and how quickly things are changing from day-to-day, now is the PERFECT time to scrapbook these moments (if you are a scrapbooker) or simply start a journal if you’re not a scrapbooker. We are making history. These moments that we are experiencing and the things that we are in disbelief about (like the HUGE demand for toilet paper!?) will be what is written in future history books. We are living it. Each of our experiences will be unique but also the same to some extent. While we think we’ll never forget these days, our brains will write over some of the exceptional details that are so fresh right now in order to make room for new memories. Preserve your experience!
