Last week we celebrated Teacher Appreciation Week at my kids’ school. Another parent and I organized what we would do each day for the teachers and staff. For Monday, we asked families to contribute a food item for a buffet lunch. We tried to structure it so we would have a nice balance of items by assigning food categories to certain grades (kinders bring plates, utensils; first graders bring a salad; second graders an entree and so forth) we ultimately ended up with A LOT of dessert! Ha ha. But I guess who doesn’t enjoy dessert?!?
On Tuesday, we provided each teacher with a basket (it was perfect timing since many people were willing to donate baskets after Easter!) and we asked each student to bring in a piece of fruit to give to their teacher. Voila–beautiful, colorful and healthy snacks for the teachers!
On Wednesday, we delivered Mason Jars filled with homemade cookies. Unfortunately, I neglected to get pictures of the finished product but did get a picture of the tags I made to be tied around the lid of the jars. We also gave some Post-it notes that were tied together with this other tag I made using Cricut shapes to create an an apple image. Love using the Cricut–especially when you need to cut out A LOT! 🙂
On Thursday, we delivered Lucky Bamboo that I potted in recycled old school beakers. So cute! I made up some Cinnamon Clay Star tags to tie around each to dress them up a bit.
Perhaps the best gift–in my opinion–were the handmade cards each student brought in for their teacher. We provided a card base and envelope for each student a few weeks beforehand so they would have plenty of time to draw a masterpiece as well jot down a few sentiments for their teacher. It was SO cute and heartwarming to see how proud the kids were of their cards as well as how excited they were to give them to their teacher.
To finish out the week, we asked families to bring in some breakfast pastries and fruit for the teachers. We also hired a barista to come in and provide the teachers and staff with specialty coffees to go with their continental breakfast before school started.
